TRACK RULES
–ATTEND THE DRIVERS MEETING All of these rules are explained right before track goes hot. If you arrive late find a track worker and have them go over what was discussed in the drivers meeting before going out on track. The drivers meeting also explains the layout, track entrance/exit and grid location.
–DO NOT CUT THE TRACK If your vehicle malfunctions or you need to get off track. Follow the layout till you can safely exit the track. Cutting the track can result in a T-bone accident. We want to avoid that at all cost.
-If your vehicle breaks down on track DO NOT EXIT YOUR VEHICLE. (With the sole exception of a vehicle fire) We have track workers watching the track at all times. If you have a problem, throw your arms up in the X formation. This lets our track workers know to stop running cars and to assist you.
–FIRE SAFETY! If you see a fire of any kind on the track. YELL FIRE! Once again our track workers are keeping an eye on the track at all times but drivers and spectators need to be aware of this. If a car catches fire on the track there is a VERY short window to put the fire out before losing the whole vehicle. If you are in the pits and have an extinguisher BRING IT ASAP! We fight fires together. Treat your follow drivers car as your own and safely help out.
–NO DRIVING UNDER ANY INFLUENCE OF ANY KIND Do not get behind the wheel of a car drunk or high. It impairs your reflexes and decision making skills. If you are found to be under the influence of any kind you will not be allowed to drive. You are on a track with other drivers and actions like this can put lives at risk.
–NO RECKLESS BEHAVIOR IN THE PITS Drifting, burnouts, e-brake slides, locking up brakes, speeding, or reckless driving of any kind will NOT be tolerated in the pits. You have an entire track to slide and perform on. There is no reason any of that should carry outside of the track. PIT SPEED LIMIT IS 10MPH
–RIDE ALONGS ARE ONLY PERMITTED IF PASSENEGER SEATS PASS TECH If you want others to ride along in your car, your passenger seats need to pass the same tech inspection the drivers seat goes through. Passengers also need helmets and closed toed shoes to ride along. For more information on tech inspection. See “VEHICLE TECH RULES” below.
–LISTEN TO TRACK WORKERS They have taken the time out of their day to work the event so you can have a smooth track day. They get to the track early to set up the layouts. They stay late to clean up and spend the night to help sweep the track the next day. They stand out in the heat or the cold all day making sure everything operates safely and without problems. They do this for YOU to have an amazing track day. Please listen to them and their direction. If they are telling you to do something, it is for a good reason. Please respect the track workers.
–SAFETY BEFORE DRIVING Before entering the track, drivers and passengers need to have helmets and harnesses on. Before you drive out of your pit, ensure everyone has helmets on and harnesses properly tightened and secured. IT IS THE DRIVERS RESPONSIBILTY to ensure everyone in their vehicle is ready before entering the track.
–NO DRIVING AFTER DARK Our events run till the dusk. Once the sun sets we close the track. Even with your headlights on it is VERY difficult to see out on the track. There is a much higher risk of crashing and we don’t take that risk. If you see the gates closed DO NOT take your vehicle onto the track.
–TANDEM RULES Drivers are allowed to tandem all day at every event. You are the best judge of your skill level. Only tandem if you feel up to the challenge. On hotlapping days if you are not comfortable with someone chasing you, when it is safe to do so, let that driver pass you or notify a track worker at the entrance to the track and they will do their best to put you in a large opening.
–CONVERTIBLES Convertible vehicles are allowed on track but they MUST have a 4 point roll bar at the minimum. Convertibles are allowed to tandem. We strongly encourage that if you are driving a convertible and want to tandem, only do so with drivers you are comfortable with. STYLE BARS DO NOT COUNT.
–TRUCKS If you have a truck and you want to drift, please contact us on instagram or our contact page before coming to an event so we can approve your truck before you arrive. Trucks need to be lowered with proper suspension to drift. Clamped leafsprings, welded/lsd differential. Stock height or lifted trucks are not allowed due to roll over risk. Must have low profile tires. All-Terrain tires and high profile tires are not allowed. No bed boxes, caps or toolboxes in bed. Bed must be COMPLETELY empty with tailgate removed or secured. Trucks still need to pass tech inspection at the track.
–NO FIREARMS ALLOWED No firearms of any kind are allowed at Shenandoah Speedway or any event held by Swing Set LLC. If you are in possession of a firearm at any event you will be asked to leave the facility immediately. No exceptions.
–USE COMMON SENSE Track workers reserve the right to remove you from the track and/or facility for any reason, at any time, with no refund.
TECH INSPECTION / VEHICLE RULES
–NO LEAKING FLUIDS from any part of the vehicle
–NO LOOSE WIRING Secure any and all harnesses and wires.
–NO LOOSE OR DANGLING PARTS Body panels, interior panels, skid plates, coolant overflow reservoirs, etc etc. Anything that can come loose could be a danger to you or others on track.
–MUST HAVE COOLANT OVERFLOW We cannot have vehicles spilling coolant onto the track. A coolant reservoir must be present.
–ALL LUG NUTS/BOLTS AND STUDS MUST BE PRESENT AND PROPERLY TORQUED
–NO DRIFTING ON TRAILER TIRES OR ALL-TERRAIN TIRES
–SOLID BATTERY HOLD DOWN MUST BE PRESENT No zip-ties, bungee cords or ratchet straps. Loose batteries cause fires.
–BATTERY TERMINALS MUST BE COVERED AND TERMINALS MUST BE TIGHT
–FIRE EXTINGUISHER MUST BE PRESENT AT ALL TIMES IN THE VEHICLE 2.5LB minimum and must be mounted within drivers reach. Must not be expired. Needle must be in green with safety pin firmly in place. Familiarize yourself with how to use an extinguisher.
–4 POINT ROLLBARS REQUIRED FOR CONVERTIBLES Any type of “style bar” does not count. Both bolt in and weld in rollbars are allowed.
–SEATS MUST BE PROPERLY SECURED We strongly encourage you have bucket seats installed in your vehicle.
–OEM SEAT BELTS CAN ONLY BE USED WITH OEM SEATS You cannot run an OEM seat with a 4, 5 or 6 point harness. This rule applies to every seat in the car. No exceptions.
–4, 5 AND 6 POINT HARNESSES CAN ONLY BE USED WITH BUCKET SEATS. You cannot use an OEM seat belt with a bucket seat. This rule applies to every seat in the car. No exceptions.
–HELMETS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES ON THE TRACK No open face helmets are allowed. Helmet straps must be worn at all times. Passengers must also follow these rules.
–ALL LOOSE ITEMS MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE BEFORE TECH INSPECTION
–GAS CAP MUST BE PRESENT AND TIGHT
-If your vehicle has the exhaust on the same side as the brake and clutch master cylinder, we strongly recommend a heat shield between them. OEM exhaust header shields are acceptable.
–Straight-piped cars are encouraged to install a muffler The track does have neighbors and redlining a straight-piped vehicle around the bank can be heard all the way into town so consider putting some sort of muffler on your vehicle. The track has a 90DB limit set by the county so please be considerate of that.
–FRONT AND REAR TOW HOOKS/STRAPS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED This makes it a lot easier for track workers to pull your car off the track in the event of a breakdown/emergency. Track workers will try their best to not damage your vehicle but we also need to get it off track quickly. If you have a tow hook, it makes this WAY easier for both drivers and track workers.
